The South Punjab region is home to some of Pakistan’s most vulnerable communities, where poverty, illiteracy, and gender inequality persist. Women, in particular, face significant barriers to economic opportunities, assets, skills, healthcare etc. To address these challenges, Southern Punjab Poverty Alleviation Project (SPPAP)-IFAD Assisted has been designed jointly by Government of the Punjab and donor agency International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) concentrating on the poorest of the poor households and harmonizes with the gender equality and women empowerment requirements in Punjab. All the interventions are being implemented under the direct guidance and supervision of Project Steering Committee (PSC) headed by the Chairman, Government of the Punjab, Planning & Development Board and under the administrative control of Planning & Development Board.
The main objective of the SPPAP is to increase incomes of ultra-poor households falling under lowest poverty bands on BISP NSER by enhancing their employment potentials and increasing agriculture productivity and production through; Assets Transfer (Small Ruminants 02 goat package), Small Land Plots, Secure Rural Housing for poor women, Vocational / Entrepreneurship Trainings, Small Scale Community Physical Infrastructure (CPI) Schemes, Revolving fund loan facility for Agriculture, Livestock & Enterprise Development, Food Banks. The target areas of SPPAP included ten poorest districts i.e., Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajan Pur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Bhakkar, Mianwali and Khushab. Project Management Unit of SPPAP has been established at Bahawalpur headed by the Project Director.
M/S Institute of Rural Management (IRM) is one of the Implementing Partners of SPPAP working in the capacity of Vocational Training Organization (VTO) responsible to hold vocational & enterprise trainings under multiple demand driven trades for rural youth including 70% women.
SPPAP Rozgaar is a pioneering job portal designed with the support of IRM to connect the vocational trained force with leading employers across various industries. This platform bridges the gap between pass out trainees and the job market, empowering pass-out trainees to launch successful careers.
